Yesterday I shared with you how to make cold brew coffee, so today let’s try the challenge of making iced drip coffee! Compared with cold brew, the production method of ice drops is more complicated and requires more energy and time. You can refer to the graphic content of this article and make adjustments and production based on your own equipment and preferences~
Preparation before making: ice dripping pot, room temperature drinking water, ice cubes, round filter paper for ice dripping, coffee beans, and a sealed bottle. (The ratio of powder to water and ice used in this teaching is 1:6:6, and the coffee beans used are 50g, water 300g, and ice 300g)

(Tip: If you don’t have filter paper for ice dripping, you can cut the ordinary Pour over(V60) coffee filter paper into a round filter paper of a suitable size for the ice dripping powder bowl)

For the coffee beans used in ice dripping, it is best to have a fresh floral aroma or a rich fruity aroma. We recommend Front Street Strawberry Sugar Coffee, Front Street Kenyan Coffee, and Front Street Yirgacheffe Coffee, because the ice drip made from these beans generally has a refreshing aroma and is very delicious whether drunk with or without ice.

Step 1: Grind the Front Street Strawberry Candy coffee beans into coffee powder
(For reference only: The coffee beans used in this demonstration are Front Street Strawberry Candy, which is a bean blended from Costa Rica and Panama. It has a rich coffee aroma and tastes like roses, raisins, cream, and berries. The grinder is EK43s, and the grinding degree is 9 for the usual ice hand grinding.)

Step 2: Spread a layer of round filter paper with ice drops in the powder bowl of the ice drip pot, moisten it with water, then pour in the coffee powder and spread it evenly.

Step 3: Cover the flat coffee powder with a round filter paper for ice dripping, and use room temperature water to moisten the coffee powder. (Tip: All the powder needs to be moistened. This can shorten the drip filtering time and ensure that the powder layer can be evenly penetrated by water.)

Step 4: Pour ice and water into the container with the dripping speed valve at the top of the ice dripping pot.
(Note: Before pouring water, you need to close the drip valve to prevent the poured ice water from being directly washed down with a large flow of water)

Step 5: Control the dripping speed of the dripping speed valve to 7 drops in 10 seconds, and then wait for the dripping to finish.
(Trickling filtration takes a long time, so you need to observe the dripping speed from time to time to prevent changes.)

Step 6: After drip filtering is completed, pour the coffee into a sealed bottle and place it in the refrigerator for 8 hours.
(Note: Refrigerate! Not freeze!)

Step 7: Enjoy your time! The long process of making and waiting has finally paid off, enjoy the beauty of this long-term effort! (Add ice cubes for a better taste!)
