Ice-drip coffee is generally available in limited quantities in cafes because it takes more than eight hours to make each time. Ice-drip coffee originated in Europe. Since this cold-drink coffee is said to have been invented by the Dutch, some people call it DUTCH COFFEE. In addition, during the production process, naturally falling water droplets penetrate into the coffee powder, and the last droplets fall into the lower pot and are collected. Therefore, it is also called water-drop coffee, which usually takes more than 8 hours.

How to make ice drops in coffee shops?

Material preparation: ice dripping pot, room temperature drinking water, ice cubes, round filter paper for ice dripping, a pack of Front Street Strawberry Candy coffee beans, a grinder, and a sealed bottle. (The ratio of powder to water and ice used in this teaching is 1:6:6, and the coffee beans used are 50g, water 300g, and ice 300g)

Iced coffee beans usually use fresh floral and rich fruity aromas. For those who like floral aromas, we recommend Front Street Oiran Coffee, Front Street Butterfly Coffee, and Front Street Strawberry Candy Coffee. For those who like strong fruity or fermented aromas, we recommend purchasing Front Street Mozart Coffee, Front Street Xizhao Coffee, and Front Street 90+ Manor eleta coffee.

Step 1: Grind the coffee beans into coffee powder

(For reference only: The Front Street Strawberry Sugar coffee beans used in this ice dripping are used. The grinder is EK43s. The grinding degree is 9 scale for the usual ice hand grinding.)

Step 2: Spread a layer of round filter paper with ice drops in the powder bowl of the ice drip pot, moisten it with water, then pour in the coffee powder and spread it evenly.

Step 3: Cover the flat coffee powder with a round filter paper for ice dripping, and use room temperature water to moisten the coffee powder. (Tip: All the powder needs to be moistened. This can shorten the drip filtering time and ensure that the powder layer can be evenly penetrated by water.)

Step 5: Control the dripping speed of the dripping speed valve to 7 drops in 10 seconds, and then wait for the dripping to finish.

(Drip filtering takes a long time, so you need to observe the dripping speed from time to time to prevent changes.) After the extraction of ice-drip coffee, it should be put into a clean container and placed in the refrigerator for one night to make it taste better. This is a habit that many experienced friends have already developed. Staying in the refrigerator for one night means sealed storage in a low-temperature environment. We can also simply understand it as "maturation". It has two purposes: to control fermentation and avoid deterioration.

Although the refrigerator at home may look clean on the surface, there are still many microorganisms that are difficult to detect with the naked eye. If you are not careful, it may cause food spoilage or deterioration. Therefore, in order to ensure that the coffee is not contaminated by the outside world, the containers we use must be well sealed and clean. Low-temperature storage is not only to inhibit the reproduction rate of certain bacterial colonies, but also to allow the substances in the coffee to undergo a slow and controllable fermentation process. This also explains why the longer the ice drops are left, the stronger the fermentation flavor of the coffee will be.

Generally speaking, for the sake of flavor experience and health and safety, whether it is ice dripping or cold extraction, as long as the extraction method is carried out in a low-temperature environment, Front Street recommends that you drink it within 5 days (counted from the production date).

In addition to cold water extraction, we can also see another type of ice coffee brewed with hot water in coffee shops, which is ice hand brewing. Front Street believes that making iced hand brew is also very simple. As long as you choose the right coffee beans and ensure that there are no major problems with the parameters, you can easily get a cup of iced and delicious black coffee.

Here Front Street takes medium and light roasted coffee beans - Front Street Kaffa Forest as an example. The parameters for ice brewing using high concentration and high extraction are as follows:
