Coffee is now slowly becoming more popular, and more and more consumers are beginning to learn about coffee. On the one hand, the giants in the industry still maintain their leadership, and on the other hand, independent and niche coffee shops are slowly increasing across the country. There is always a cute name appearing in our choice on the Italian coffee menu of every cafe - Australian White Coffee. Front Street today will discuss what Australian white coffee is.

The Origin of Australian White Coffee

Australian white is the abbreviation, and the full name is: "Australian white coffee". It originated in Melbourne, Australia in 1980, and then quickly became popular in New Zealand and Australia, and also led the milk coffee trend in the two places at that time. When making Australian white coffee, New Zealanders like to use double espresso (Double Ristretto). The Australian white coffee made this way will be relatively rich.

Australians, on the other hand, use Single Espresso. The Australian white coffee made this way will be relatively close to latte. The difference lies in the thickness of the milk foam. The biggest difference between Australian white coffee, cappuccino and latte is the thickness of the milk foam. Australian white coffee is the thinnest among the three. Secondly, the richness of Australian white coffee is richer than cappuccino and latte coffee.

whyAustralian white coffee is also called Fuli white coffee?

Fulibai is actually one of the translations of "Flat white". Starbucks follows the New Zealand method in making its Fuli White Coffee, using double espresso. Front Street noticed that the way Australian white coffee is made in niche coffee shops in China is more Australian. This time the espresso is extracted using the home-roasted Front Street classic Italian blend coffee beans, which are made from Brazilian Cerato, Indonesian Mandheling and Vietnamese washed coffee. The extracted espresso flavor will be relatively rich and solid, so when making the Australian white coffee, a double shot of espresso coffee is used.

What is the difference between espresso and regular espresso?
Ristretto is a coffee that takes a shorter time and uses less liquid than Espresso. The production process is basically the same as espresso. Espresso is obtained by reducing the proportion and extraction time. Take 20 grams of coffee powder as an example. Regular espresso extracts 40 grams of coffee liquid, while espresso extract extracts 30 grams of coffee liquid for about 23 to 25 seconds.

The first half of the espresso is responsible for providing the main flavor of the coffee, while the second half has very little flavor and generally plays a role in adjusting the concentration and providing a mellow feel. Generally speaking, the first thing to be extracted from coffee is the acidity of small molecules, then the sweetness, and finally the bitterness of large molecules. Therefore, the coffee liquid in the early stage of extraction often tastes very sour. Compared with the normal proportion of espresso, the espresso Ristretto has reduced the amount of extract in the latter part, so the taste is less bitter and the body may be lower. However, due to the reduced proportion, the concentration is also higher and the flavor substances are more concentrated.

What’s the difference between an Australian white coffee made with espresso and espresso?
A cup of Australian white coffee contains less milk than latte and cappuccino. The ratio of coffee to milk is usually 1:1.6-1:1.7. The optimal temperature for cooking milk is 55-60 degrees.

Without further ado, Front Street will use double espresso to make a cup of Australian white coffee. The parameters are: 20g coffee powder extracts 30ml espresso liquid, and the extraction time is 25 seconds. The flavor of espresso is: rich dark chocolate, caramel, cocoa, and a roasted hazelnut-like aftertaste. After 30ml of double espresso liquid and 145ml of hot milk are fully mixed, the Australian white coffee flavor is manifested as cocoa cookie, dark chocolate milk and almond-like aftertaste. After the second to third sip, the nutty sweetness becomes more obvious.

due toAustralian WhiteThe main emphasis is on retaining the oil of the espresso liquid and the visual effect of layered gradients. Therefore, when choosing coffee beans, you cannot use types with too light a roasting degree, which will makeit appearsVery thin. in order to letespressoIt releases rich golden oil and has a mellow taste. We recommend the four dark roasted coffees: Front Street Classic Italian Blend, Front Street Boutique Blend 100% Arabica, Front Street Black Cocoa Blend (100% Arabica), and Front Street Commercial Blend. In addition to the caramel flavor, the focus is on full fat.
