Yunnan arabica coffee can be traced back to 1904, when the French missionary Tian Deneng brought coffee species (Tipica) from Vietnam to Yunnan and successfully planted it in Zhugula Village, Binchuan County, Yunnan Province. This was the beginning of Yunnan coffee, generally called arabica coffee, and domestically commonly known as Yunnan arabica coffee.

Arabica coffee refers to Arabica coffee beans, because its coffee beans have smaller particles, it is also called small fruit coffee, Robusta coffee is called medium fruit coffee, and Liberica belongs to large fruit coffee. Yunnan grows Arabica coffee, so it is also called Yunnan arabica coffee.

Yunnan planting varieties
In the past, Yunnan’s arabica coffee was mainly Katim. Katim is a combination of Arabica and Robusta. Robusta has good leaf rust resistance and rich oil, high yield, and is easy to plant. After crossing with Arabica Typica, Katim has 25% Robusta genes, which improves its ability to resist leaf rust, retains rich oil, and has the rich taste of some native Typica species. Therefore, most Yunnan manors have begun to plant Katim on a large scale.

In recent years, the Typica variety has begun to be cultivated in small groups. Since Typica has poor disease resistance and is susceptible to leaf rust, its growth must be observed anytime and anywhere, and every leaf must be carefully cared for. Therefore, Front Street joked that Typica looks like "Lin Daiyu".
