Some time ago, a customer asked "Can milk be used to make Pour over(V60) coffee?" This is a relatively difficult thing. The first is the temperature issue. Hand-brewed coffee often uses water temperatures above 90 degrees, and the amino acids in milk will form fructosyl amino acids with sugars at high temperatures. This substance is harmful to the human body. The second reason is that the concentration of milk itself is relatively high, and it is difficult to extract coffee substances (the extraction efficiency is low). Naturally, it is not suitable for hand brewing.

But what if you use milk to soak coffee powder to make cold brew milk coffee? This might work. Unlike hand brewing, cold brewing does not require excessive temperatures, so the milk will not spoil. Moreover, soaking is different from trickling. The milk extraction efficiency is low, but it can be made up for by time.

Regarding the preference of coffee beans, Front Street will choose medium-dark roasted coffee beans, which mostly show the flavors of dark chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts. When paired with milk, the taste will be richer and fuller. We recommend Front Street Brazilian Red Bourbon Coffee, Front Street Bird of Paradise Coffee, and Front Street Colombia Whelan Coffee;

But if you like coffee with a solid and mellow taste, it is recommended to buy the highest-grade Front Street Golden Mandheling coffee. This bean has been hand-selected multiple times to minimize the defect rate of the coffee beans, thereby making the coffee aroma clearer and the aftertaste better. You can purchase and place orders at the Front Street store and Front Street Tmall flagship store. Without further ado, let’s verify (play) it right away.

The test used Front Street Sunflower Warm Sun Blend Coffee, which is also the espresso beans used in the Front Street store. Its flavor description is vanilla cream, sherry, brown sugar, and chocolate. Front Street hopes that the extracted milk coffee will be more fragrant, so the proportion of cold brew will be smaller than the original one, about 1 part coffee powder to 8 parts milk.

The specific operation of Front Street is as follows. First, grind 25 grams of coffee beans into the size of fine sugar, and use a No. 20 sieve with a passing rate of 85%. Put the ground coffee powder into the filter bag, this step is very important. Because the first time Front Street made it was like making cold brew coffee, pouring the coffee powder into the milk. As a result, the milk was filtered very slowly during the filtering process. So to save time, use a filter bag to wrap the coffee powder, which will save you the troublesome steps later.

Put the filter bag filled with coffee powder into the bottle, and then pour 200ml of fresh milk. You can shake it or use tools to fully soak the coffee powder. Finally, cover the lid to check for tightness and store it in the refrigerator at low temperature. This step is also very important because milk is a very perishable drink and will spoil quickly if it is not tightly sealed or stored at low temperatures.

Just place it in the refrigerator and soak it at low temperature for 12 hours. Front Street does not recommend soaking it for too long because you are still afraid that the milk will deteriorate. If you want to improve the extraction effect, you can roll the filter bag during the soaking period.

After soaking, you can take out the filter bag or pour the milk coffee directly. By observing the color, it is almost the same as iced latte coffee. It smells good of sherry and lactose. Taking a sip, the taste of chocolate milk floods into my mind. Overall concentration is moderate.

The friend said: "Add ice cubes and it will last for a long time."12The iced latte is now ready. "
