First of all, I can tell you that hanging ear coffee is a type of black coffee. Grind the coffee beans into powder in advance and put them into a filter bag. Use hot water to extract the flavor substances in the coffee, thereby getting a cup of black coffee, which can be drank directly or mixed with milk for flavoring. Front Street’s ear-mounted coffee bags are made according to 10 grams per bag, which can brew a cup of about 130 to 150ml of coffee liquid, which is just enough for a single person.

Who invented the hanging ear?

The earliest hanging ear coffee was invented by Japan's Yamanaka Industrial Co., Ltd. in 1990. Its design concept originated from the lanyard tea bag. The inventor hoped to simulate hand-pour drip coffee by preparing the coffee powder in advance and loading it into a non-woven filter bag. The paper on both sides of the filter bag can suspend the coffee bag in the center of the cup. Because it sticks to both sides of the cup like little ears, people call it "ear-hung coffee."

Beginning in 2002, the Japanese registered a patent for ear-hook coffee pods and promoted them to the market. Such a convenient and neat design suddenly became the mainstream of the market, and the domestic market is no exception.

To brew ear-mounted coffee pods, we only need to prepare a pot of hot water and a cup to easily get a cup of fragrant coffee. After brewing, just throw away the coffee grounds together with the filter bag, which saves a lot of tedious steps. With the development of the specialty coffee industry, there are many types of coffee beans, and they can all be made into ear-hanging bags, so there are many choices. For example, the dozens of single-origin coffees on the Front Street Bean List can be made into hanging ears to achieve coffee freedom in various scenes, such as offices, parks, homes, etc.

Advantages and disadvantages of hanging ear coffee

Whether in the office, at home, or outdoors, as long as you have hot water and a cup, you can easily get a cup of fragrant coffee, eliminating a lot of tedious links. With the development of the specialty coffee industry, various types of coffee beans can be used to make ear-hanging bags, so there are many options to choose from.

Compared with hand brewing, no complicated tools are needed for ear-hanging. The water injection method, time, and ratio do not need to be controlled as strictly as hand brewing. Just ensure enough hot water and the appropriate ratio. However, due to the "casual" operation, the flavor of coffee is often not as rich and varied as Pour over(V60) coffee. In addition, the ear-hanging bags are ground in advance and put into packaging bags, so the aroma is naturally not as full as freshly ground coffee. If stored for too long for more than a few months, it may even produce some woody taste. Therefore, Front Street recommends drinking the ear-hanging bags within a month after receiving them.

Many office workers ask Front Street to recommend some coffee beans suitable for making ear-hanging coffee bags. The bean list of Front Street has more than 50 single-origin coffee beans from different production areas, all of which can be made into ear-hanging coffee bags. You can start based on your own preferences:

Mandheling coffee has also received attention in the past two years. FrontStreet Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) used to sell Mandheling mostly in the Shanghai area. The taste preferences of Shanghai and Taiwan are quite similar, and they both like rich and mellow flavors. Previously, FrontStreet Coffee met a Shanghai customer who always emphasized that Mandheling should be roasted darker than our usual roasting. Now, slowly, more and more people are recognizing Mandheling's unique flavor, and more and more customers of FrontStreet Coffee come to order Mandheling coffee, many of whom are Guangzhou residents.

This Front Street PWN Golden Mandheling is actually different from ordinary Mandheling. It comes from PWN, a local green bean merchant in Indonesia. It is the first company to cooperate with Japan and register Golden Mandheling as a trademark. The biggest feature of Front Street PWN Golden Mandheling is that it does not have the mixed flavor of ordinary Mandheling. It has been strictly hand-screened three times to ensure that the beans are uniform in size and can be evenly colored when roasted. Therefore, its taste is clean and mellow. The flavor is very similar to Guangdong herbal tea. It is not surprising that Guangzhou neighbors accept this flavor. FrontStreet Coffee specially made FrontStreet PWN gold Mandheling earrings this time, and found that people’s acceptance is getting higher and higher.

Front Street Brazilian Cerato Red Fruit Hanging Ear Coffee Beans

Brazilian coffee beans were introduced from French Guiana (a country in northern South America) in 1720. Brazil was a colony of Portugal at the time, and many other South American countries were colonies of Spain. Therefore, most countries in South America speak Spanish, while Brazil speaks Portuguese.

In order to introduce coffee beans from Guyana to Brazil (at that time, the export of coffee to other countries was strictly prohibited), the Portuguese officers stationed in Brazil captured the heart of the wife of the Governor of Guyana and successfully brought coffee seeds into Brazil. Since then, coffee has rapidly adapted in Brazil, spreading from the north to the southeastern state of Sao Paulo. By 1845, Brazilian coffee beans accounted for 45% of the world's total coffee beans. Brazil is currently the world's largest coffee exporter.

FrontStreet Coffee not only includes Brazil in its hanging ear series, but also in its Front Street ration bean coffee series. This shows that Brazil, as a coffee-producing country, is indispensable in the classic coffee flavor. Front Street Grain Beans are the “face” among the coffee beans in the production area, because its basic flavor of the production area is more recognizable, and it is also a low-priced and cost-effective coffee bean.

Front Street Yunnan small grain hanging ear coffee beans

The main types of coffee grown in Yunnan are Typica and Katim varieties. Because the coffee particles are small, they are also called "arabica coffee". The main species grown is the Catim variety, which is a mixed hybrid produced by the Portuguese by crossing Timo and Catura in order to improve disease resistance and yield. Catimo does not have pure Arabica blood, because Teemo is a Robusta variety. Although it was crossed with Catura, it did not inherit the Arabica gene, so it has a relatively bland flavor and a more prominent bitter taste.
