Many friends have the habit of making iced coffee in summer. Among them, iced drip coffee is loved by many people. The method of making iced drip coffee is very simple (it just takes a little time), but sometimes the details are ignored precisely because of simplicity. Below, Front Street will share some details of iced drip coffee that Front Street considers to be important!
1、Use coffee beans roasted longer
In Pour over(V60) coffee, we pay great attention to the freshness of the coffee beans, because this is related to the amount of aroma and flavor in the coffee. However, making ice-drip coffee pays more attention to the stability of the beans. Coffee beans that are close to the roasting date contain more gas, and exhaust expansion will occur during the drip filtering process, which can easily cause channeling in the powder trough.

Generally, it is better to use coffee beans that are about 20 days after roasting for making ice-drip coffee. Some friends may ask, will using coffee beans for such a long time make the flavor of ice-drip coffee worse? Ice-drip coffee is different from Pour over(V60) coffee. Ice-drip coffee takes a long time to be extracted. Even if there are relatively strong volatile flavor substances, they will dissipate during the long production process. Iced coffee contains more soluble substances. These substances do not evaporate over time. Therefore, many friends use longer Pour over(V60) coffee beans to make ice-drip coffee.
However, Front Street still needs to add that if you find that the coffee beans have changed, and there is a sawdust, burnt, bitter, or stale taste, it means that the coffee cannot be consumed.

2. Put a piece of circular filter paper on the powder trough

3. Moisten the coffee powder in advance
Before the formal drip filtering, you can first wet the coffee powder layer. This has many benefits. The first point is to save time; the second point is to reduce the risk of passage; the third point is to extract evenly. Sometimes after the production is completed, it is found that some of the powder in the powder trough is dry. Pre-wetting can prevent these situations from occurring.

4, use clean ice and water
Water and ice with a relatively high calcium content are prone to white impurities, and these impurities will block the drip valve, causing the drip rate to slow down or even stop. That is to say, sometimes I prepare to make ice dripping before going out, but when I come back, I find that not much coffee drips at all. This is the reason. If you have time, check the dripping speed of ice drops every hour and adjust it in time.

5. Place the prepared coffee in the refrigerator for 12 hours
After dripping, it is best to store the ice-drip coffee in the refrigerator for 12 hours before drinking. Place it in the refrigerator for 12 hours of low-temperature fermentation, which will give the ice-drip coffee an aromatic fermentation aroma, and the original flavor will become richer.
