Recently, many friends have come to the Front Street store to ask if they have iced drip coffee. Front Street’s iced coffee not only offers iced drip, but also cold brew, iced Americano, and iced Pour over(V60) extractions of various single-origin coffee beans. As the two most popular iced coffees, customers often ask what the difference is between Front Street iced coffee and cold brew. Why does iced coffee need to be "pre-ordered"? What are the differences in the details of the two methods? Don’t worry, let Front Street tell you today.

What is the difference between cold brew and ice drip?

To put it simply, both are low-temperature-extracted coffee. The difference is that one is brewed and the other is drip-filtered. But sometimes, the term cold brew coffee is also used to refer to low-temperature brewed coffee. However, in most cases, cold brew coffee refers to cold brew coffee soaked in cold water. The term cold brew coffee is purely an elegant translation of English (Cold brew).

Ice-drip coffee uses dripping ice water to extract the coffee substance drop by drop. If you want to compare the two extraction methods, cold brew coffee is like a French press, and ice-drip coffee is like Pour over(V60) coffee.

Cold brew or ice drip, which one tastes better?

First of all, let me make it clear that it is the coffee beans that determine the taste of coffee. Cold brew and ice dripping are just methods of extracting coffee beans. The extraction method will only affect the characteristics and style of this coffee bean. For example, some people like to drink Pour over(V60) coffee, while others say that Pour over(V60) coffee tastes better than French press coffee. This is just a matter of the style and characteristics of the coffee extraction method and personal preference.

The current street uses the same coffee beans——front street mozartA pot of cold brew coffee and a pot of ice-drip coffee were made according to the parameters produced by the store. In the end, it was found that both of them showed their own characteristics: the front street Mozart cold brew was closer to the original flavor of the coffee beans, with the aroma of raisins, osmanthus, and sweet orange, and the layering was fuller and richer; while the ice-drip coffee was cleaner, more translucent, and refreshing, with a strong fermented aroma of fruit wine, which fully demonstrated the unique taste of this method.

(The flavor comparison between these two methods is based on the focus of the same coffee beans through these two methods. If you don’t taste it carefully, you may not find any difference.)

Why do I need to make a reservation if I want to drink iced coffee?

Some friends came to the Front Street store and saw on the blackboard that "Ice-drip coffee needs to be reserved two days in advance." This is because ice-drip coffee takes a long time to make. It takes 6-8 hours to filter. After filtering, it needs to be left for 12 hours before drinking. Therefore, if a friend wants to drink ice-drip coffee with designated coffee beans, they need to make a reservation in advance.

Of course, in such hot weather as now, Front Street will make ice-drip coffee every day. Of course, the choice of beans depends on Front Street’s schedule for the day.

Finally, Front Street has attached the production parameters of his own ice drops and cold brew. You can also make them in your own air-conditioned room in the hot summer.

Parameters of ice-drip coffee (it should be noted here that the parameters of ice-drip cold brew are not unique. Just like Pour over(V60) coffee, there are many completely different parameters that can achieve the purpose of delicious drink. Here are the parameters used by Front Street)
