Coffee has become an indispensable part of everyone's work and life. Especially in today's fast-paced life and high work pressure, it is even more necessary to have a cup of coffee to wake up in the morning. However, it is not good for those who are sensitive to caffeine, because after drinking coffee, they may be counting stars all night long. Of course, there is also decaffeinated coffee on the market now, but Front Street believes that iced drip coffee may be a good choice!
Ice drip coffee, as the name suggests, it is not hot. Unlike hand-brew coffee, which is brewed with hot water, ice-drip coffee is brewed with cold water or room temperature water. Front Street has told everyone that coffee brewed at different water temperatures will have different flavors. For Pour over(V60) coffee, Front Street also recommends tasting it at different temperatures for a different experience!

Let’s first take a look at what ice-drip coffee is like?
Iced coffee originated in Europe. Since the coffee distiller was invented by the Dutch, some people call it Dutch Coffee, espresso or drip coffee. Ice-drip coffee relies on the compatibility of coffee itself with water, mainly due to the natural penetration of water pressure by condensation, and the production time is very long. Generally, ice-drip coffee is made through an ice-drip pot, which is a coffee utensil divided into an upper pot (ice water), a middle pot (coffee powder), and a lower pot (coffee liquid). The ice water in the upper pot is dripped drop by drop into the coffee powder in the middle pot, and the coffee liquid is slowly extracted and flows into the lower pot. The general production time is 6-8 hours.
Extracted bit by bit, it is a kind of coffee that takes time to brew. The coffee brewed by choosing different water temperatures will taste different, and the astringent substances in coffee are not easily dissolved at low temperatures. Use ice water to extract for a long time, and after the extraction is completed, put it in the refrigerator for fermentation. The slightly fermented ice-drip coffee will have a light fermentation aroma and will have a thicker taste.

You can drink Pour over(V60) coffee immediately after brewing it, but can you drink ice-drip coffee right away? Front Street does not recommend drinking it right away. Because ice-drip coffee does not undergo a heating process and is extracted for a long time, many flavor molecules are extracted, but not released well. Therefore, after the ice-drip coffee is extracted, put it in a sealed bottle and put it in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours, which will cause the pressure of carbon dioxide in the bottle to release the flavor molecules. This is why the longer the ice-drip coffee is left in the refrigerator, the richer it will taste.
But you can’t just put it down all the time. You have to have a certain period of time to drink it. Front Street does not recommend keeping the ice drops for a week. After all, there are bacteria in the air or bottles, and it is difficult to ensure the condition of the coffee after being stored for a long time. It is recommended that the drinking period of the ice drops be within 5 days. Do not think that the ice drops after 5 days are wasted. Drinking the coffee after leaving it for such a long time will not be beneficial.

Does iced drip coffee have a lot of caffeine?
Many people think that ice-drip coffee is extracted with cold water, so the caffeine will be very low; some people say that the caffeine of ice-drip coffee will not be very low even if it has been stored for such a long time. Front Street believes that both approaches can be correct. Iced coffee uses cold water to extract coffee, because the lower the water temperature, the less likely it is for caffeine to dissolve (the lowest temperature at which caffeine dissolves is above 80 degrees Celsius). However, the low amount of caffeine extracted by cold water cannot be underestimated over a long period of extraction.

Of course, whether there is more or less caffeine, Front Street believes that it actually has a lot to do with the coffee beans. For example, whether it is Robusta or Arabica, the caffeine is different. Also, depending on the coffee beans used in cafes, the water dripping interval, and the total extraction time, the caffeine content is also very different. Therefore, people who are sensitive to caffeine are better off drinking decaffeinated coffee instead of drinking iced coffee. There is Colombian Swiss-washed low coffee on Front Street.
Next, I will share the process of making ice-drip coffee in Front Street:
1. The water to powder ratio used in FrontStreet Coffee ice drip is 1:10, that is, 60 grams of coffee powder extracts 600 ml of coffee liquid.

2. Place a piece of circular filter paper at the bottom of the coffee cup, wet it with water and fit it to the wall of the cup. Add 60g of ground coffee powder (the size of coarse sugar), and then smooth the surface of the coffee. You can also use the weight of the powder hammer to lightly press the powder layer to make the surface smooth.
3. Remember to put a piece of filter paper on the noodles. Because the tension of the filter paper can make the water evenly distributed, if there is no filter paper, long-term water droplets will make a pit in the powder bed.

4. Use ice water to "pre-soak". In fact, this is similar to the steaming process in hand brewing, which can improve the extraction effect and the consistency of the finished product. Direct ice dripping may cause the powder layer to be unevenly moistened. Some of the coffee powder will be over-extracted while other parts of the coffee powder will not participate in the extraction.
5. Put a 1:1 mixture of ice and water into the water bottle, and adjust the regulating valve for about 10 seconds to make 7 drops of water.
6. After making, pour the coffee liquid into a sealed glass bottle and put it in the refrigerator to ferment overnight. This will allow the flavors of the coffee to blend together, making it taste better and easier to drink.

FrontStreet Coffee brewing suggestions:
No matter what kind of coffee is brewed, the freshness of the coffee beans is required. Front Street has always believed that the freshness of the coffee beans is a very important part of brewing. The coffee beans shipped by FrontStreet Coffee are all roasted within 5 days, because FrontStreet knows that the freshness of coffee beans has a great impact on the flavor. The purpose of Front Street Roasting is "freshly roasted and good coffee", so that every customer who orders receives the freshest coffee. The bean-growing period of coffee is about 4-7 days, so the flavor is at its best when customers get it.

Of course, there are also some customers who need Front Street’s help in grinding the powder, which is okay, but Front Street needs to remind you: if the coffee beans are ground in advance, there is no need to raise the beans, because during the transportation process, the pressure generated by the carbon dioxide in the packaging can also make the coffee flavor mellower, so you can make a cup of coffee immediately after receiving the coffee powder. But the coffee powder needs to be brewed in time, because the coffee powder oxidizes quickly when exposed to air, which means that the flavor of the coffee will dissipate relatively quickly, and the flavor of the coffee will not be so good. Therefore, Front Street recommends buying whole beans and grinding them freshly, so that you can better taste the flavor of the coffee.
There are many ways to brew coffee. Nowadays, people's love for coffee is no longer limited to tasting it in cafes, but also enjoys the fun of brewing coffee at home.
