French Press Coffee|What are the differences in the flavor of Geisha coffee from different production areas? How to brew delicious Geisha coffee using a French press?

Cat poop coffee, once one of the top coffee beans, was hard to find. Now it is the new king of coffee.Gesha CoffeeIt's also hard to find. The reason why Gesha coffee is hard to find is because of its high price. If you really buy a pack of Gesha coffee beans, of course you should appreciate them as a treasure. However, as a coffee novice who is still in the introductory stage of coffee brewing, how can he understand so many extraction principles? If it doesn’t taste good, wouldn’t it be a waste of resources?

Since the Front Street Panama Geisha coffee beans on the Front Street coffee bean list are lightly roasted, Front Street produces Panama coffee beans.Front Street GeshaWhen making coffee, Hario V60 filter cup, finer grinding size, and higher water temperature are generally used for brewing.

Filter bowl: Hario V60

Water temperature: 92 degrees Celsius

Amount of powder: 15g

Pink to water ratio: 1:16

Grinding degree: fine sugar (Chinese standard No. 20 screen passing rate 80%)

First, pour 30 grams of hot water in the shape of a "の" and steam for 30 seconds. Then pour a thin stream of water from the center point and slowly pour water in a circle until it reaches 140 grams. When the water level in the filter cup drops to about to expose the powder bed, continue pouring water in a circle until it reaches 240 grams. The total extraction time is about 2 minutes.

Some friends noticed that Front Street uses a powder to water ratio of 1:16 when brewing Front Street Panama Gesha. This is because Front Street Geisha coffee is resistant to extraction, and the coffee liquid with a powder to water ratio of 1:15 is too concentrated in flavor. When Front Street slightly increased the powder to water ratio to 1:16, it was found that the flavor of Geisha coffee can be expanded, the white floral aroma can be more obviously expressed, and the sourness becomes softer and the sweetness is more obvious.

Due to the unique flavor of Gesha coffee, many people have identified Geisha coffee varieties after tasting this coffee flavor that "should only be found in heaven" and try Gesha coffee from every coffee producing area. They have tasted Gesha coffee beans from Costa Rica, Honduras, Bolivia, El Salvador, Ethiopia, and even Yunnan, China. Some friends have even tasted the hidden version of Front Street Blue Mountain Geisha. However, many friends have discovered that although they are the same variety, the taste is completely different. Geisha coffee beans from other producing countries are never as exciting as Front Street Panama Geisha.

As we all know, coffee is a crop. When it comes to the flavor of all crops, the terroir of the planting area is very important. Unlike other planting areas, most of the places where Panama grows Geisha coffee are distributed in some primeval forest areas and are very close to the Baru volcano. These are things that cannot be replicated in other production areas.

As you can imagine, those places have mineral-rich volcanic soil. With the protection of virgin forests, the temperature and humidity of the planting areas are very beneficial to coffee cultivation. Many planting areas are even blessed by micro-climates, where the climate is humid and mild all year round. Due to the high planting altitude, low temperatures at night slow down the ripening speed of coffee fruits, allowing them to accumulate more fructose and allowing the fruits more time to absorb nutrients from the soil. I would like to ask, in a place with good mountains and water, and with such sufficient nutrients, how can the quality of coffee fruits not be high? Can the coffee taste bad?

There are many Gesha coffee beans in the Panama section of the Front Street Bean List, including Front Street Jade Manor Red Label, Front Street Jade Manor Green Label, Front Street Lava Rock New Blue Label, Front Street Deborah Savage Series Geisha, Front Street Aurora Manor Sun-Dried Gesha, Front Street Nugo Manor Geisha, and so on. Front Street Panamanian Geisha has the unique white floral aroma, citrus tones, honey sweetness, and clean taste. However, the flavor will be different depending on where it is grown and how it is processed. If you want to taste the most classic Panamanian Gesha, then it must be Jade Manor.

In order to improve the quality of coffee, Emerald Manor compared and recorded the flavors and characteristics of multiple coffee varieties. They unexpectedly discovered that the flavor of Geisha coffee has a unique white floral aroma, citrus tones, and honey sweetness, which is completely different from the typical "nutty tones and caramel sweetness" of Central American coffee beans.

In 2004, Daniel carefully selected a batch of Geisha coffee beans to participate in the BOP competition that year. Geisha coffee shocked the world as soon as it was released, winning the BOP championship that year and breaking the green coffee bean bidding price. In the years since then, the bidding price of Geisha coffee beans has increased even more, becoming more expensive year by year. Due to the special flavor of Gesha, in order to prevent the Gesha variety from stealing the limelight of other varieties, the BOP competition also specially set up a Gesha group and a non-Gesia group.

Because of Emerald Manor, the unique flavor of Gesha coffee is known to the world. Over the years, Emerald Manor has been doing its best to produce batches of high-quality Gesha coffee beans. Emerald Manor is both the discoverer of the flavor of Gesha coffee and the promoter of Gesha coffee. Of course it must be on the bean list of Front Street Coffee, which has nearly half a hundred varieties of coffee beans.

If you want to taste the most classic Panamanian Gesha coffee flavor, of course it’s the Front Street Emerald Estate Red Label Geisha.

Origin: Poquet, Panama

Manor: Emerald Manor

Lot:Mario

Altitude: 1700+ meters

Variety: Geisha

Treatment method: Slow sun exposure

Jade Manor's classification of red label is very strict. The red label uses Gesha coffee beans with a height of more than 1,700 meters. In addition, the cupping score is required to be above 90 points. Front Street Jade Red Label Geisha coffee beans are selected from the Mario plot, which is where the flavor of Gesha coffee was discovered, so you can get a glimpse of the style back then.

In addition, this Front Street Red Label Gesha coffee beans are slowly sun-dried. During the processing operation, the intact pulp and peel layer is retained, allowing the sugar and flavor substances of the whole coffee fruit to slowly penetrate into the green coffee beans. Therefore, the aroma of sun-dried coffee is more intense and the sweetness is more obvious.

Front Street Emerald Manor Red Label Geisha coffee beans are one of the representatives of top coffee, and many coffee lovers are very cautious about their brewing. In fact, good ingredients often only require the simplest cooking methods, and the same is true for coffee.

Coffee shops will conduct cupping tests when determining whether a coffee bean will be put on the shelves. The principle of cupping is very simple. You just grind the coffee beans into powder and then soak them in hot water. In this way, you can taste the amazing features and deficiencies of the coffee beans.

The French press, which also uses the immersion principle, is very friendly to many coffee novices. It does not require extraction skills and is very simple to operate. Next, Front Street will share how to brew Front Street Jade Manor Red Label Gesha Coffee using a French press.

Since brewing coffee in a French press is a long-time method, the coffee beans are ground coarsely. Front Street recommends using a Chinese standard No. 20 sieve with a passing rate of 75%. The ratio of powder to water can be adjusted according to your own preferences. If you like something richer, you can choose 1:13. If you like something lighter, you can choose 1:16.

Compared with coffee brewed with filter paper, the metal filter of the French press has a larger pore size and can retain more coffee oil. Therefore, the coffee brewed by the French press has a fuller taste and richer flavor. From the Front Street Jade Manor Red Label Geisha brewed in a French press, you can smell the rich white floral aroma throughout the whole drinking process. After entering, the berry juice flavor wraps your mouth, the honey sweetness is obvious, the overall layering is rich, and the taste is solid.
