On Front Street, many friends order latte and mocha. These are very popular coffees, and the baristas at FrontStreet Coffee also like them very much. But when it comes to the differences between them, many people probably don't know. Front Street tells you: In fact, latte and mocha are different types of coffee. Milk is added to latte coffee, which makes the coffee flavor relatively lighter. As for mocha, it depends on whether it is pure or fancy. Pure mocha is sweet, sour and bitter, and has a strong mellow taste. American mocha is a fancy coffee with chocolate sauce and cream or milk foam added. It tastes good combined with chocolate and milk flavor.

Latte is a classic mixture of Italian espresso and milk. Italians also like to drink latte as a breakfast drink. In Italian kitchens in the morning, coffee and milk are usually brewed at the same time on the stove that is exposed to sunlight.

Italians who drink latte do not so much like Italian espresso as they like milk, and only Espresso can bring an unforgettable taste to ordinary milk.

Mocca Cafe is an ancient coffee made from Italian espresso, chocolate sauce, fresh cream and milk.

In the fifteenth century, the outward transportation industry of coffee countries in Central and Eastern Africa was not prosperous. Mocha, Yemen, was the main export commercial port near the Red Sea at that time. At that time, coffee was mainly concentrated in Mocha Port and then exported to other countries. African coffee was collectively called Mocha coffee. Although the emerging ports have replaced the Mocha Port, the origins of Mocha coffee during the Mocha Port period have still been preserved, and the coffee beans produced in these origins are still called Mocha coffee beans.

Later, in order to restore the chocolate-flavored mocha coffee, people thought of adding seasoning sauce and cream to it, which gradually turned into the mocha espresso we know today. As the international chain brand Starbucks brings Italian coffee drinks to all over the world, milk coffee with chocolate flavored sauce has become known to more people.

The difference in taste between latte and cappuccino

1, coffee latte art is different

The most intuitive way to distinguish the two is to look at coffee latte art. Although both latte and cappuccino use milk foaming during production, the milk foam required for latte coffee is thinner than that for cappuccino. It is precisely because a thin layer of milk foam gives the coffee good fluidity that latte coffee can make latte art patterns with exquisite graphics and delicate lines.

Cappuccino, due to the thick milk foam, cannot make delicate lines of latte art, so it is generally processed with carving or no latte art. This is why coffee latte art is also called "latte art".

2, great difference in taste

In order to find out the difference between the two, we made a cup of latte and a cup of cappuccino respectively, using Front Street Boutique 100% Arabica coffee beans, which are coffee beans that are combined from two well-known production areas in Brazil and Colombia. They are roasted in a medium-dark manner. The espresso has the aroma of cocoa, chocolate, cookies, and cream, which can be said to be an excellent match for milk.

Although the raw materials are the same, the different proportions create a difference in taste. Generally speaking, 70% of latte is milk, 20% is milk foam and coffee only accounts for 10%. The proportion of milk is much more than coffee, which is a major feature of latte. Therefore, when you taste it, the latte has a rich milky aroma and a smooth taste, while the coffee has a lighter bitter taste.

The proportion of milk, milk foam and coffee in cappuccino is one-third. The biggest feature of cappuccino is that the proportion of milk and coffee is the same. Since the small ratio of milk to milk foam cannot mask the aroma of coffee, the cappuccino has a rich coffee aroma and a denser texture, like cotton candy. Therefore, if you are not used to strong coffee, you should choose latte. If you like slightly stronger coffee, cappuccino will be your favorite.

3, the two have different origins

Latte (Latte) means milk in Italian, and the earliest latte was made by adding hot milk directly to brewed coffee. It was not until Italian Archie Buscha invented the steam pressure coffee machine that Italian latte became popular today. Cappuccino appeared with the steam pressure coffee machine, so it originated later than latte. The origin of the name cappuccino comes from the brown robes and pointed hats worn by church monks.
