What is espresso?

The espresso coffee that has just been extracted has a beautiful layer of golden oil, which we generally call "Crema". The appearance of "Crema" is inseparable from the 9 Bar pressure. When the water is heated and pressurized, it will extract the soluble substances in the coffee powder layer. This process will emulsify the fat and oil naturally present in the coffee. At the same time, freshly roasted coffee beans contain carbon dioxide, which is used when making espresso.During the process, the carbon dioxide is put under pressure and melts into the coffee.

espressoIt is a very classic Italian coffee with a rich and layered taste, which can highlight certain flavor characteristics of coffee. But also because espresso has a very strong taste when you first taste it, more people like espresso-based coffee.espresso。

What is Americano?

Americano coffee originated during World War II. The U.S. military in Europe was not used to drinking extremely strong espresso, so they added water to the coffee to dilute it. Therefore, American coffee is essentially to dilute the concentration of coffee to a concentration suitable for Americans to drink at that time. Later, Italians immigrated to the United States, and Italian cafes emerged in the United States. They promoted American coffee based on espresso, and also expressed the idea of diluting espresso by pouring coffee first and then water in the "watering" sequence. Until now, the making of Americano coffee has not paid much attention to the order. It is nothing more than the difference between retaining the oil and dispersing the oil.

How to make Americano coffee?

Americano is made by diluting the espresso extracted with a powder-to-liquid ratio of 1:2 and adding an appropriate proportion of water. Front Street uses espresso extracted from sun-dried Ethiopian red cherries and Honduran sherry as an example. Front Street dilutes 40g of coffee liquid extracted from 20g of coffee powder in different proportions, and finally uses a ratio of 1:6 (40g of coffee liquid to 240g of water).Americano。

The taste of Americano coffee depends on the beans from which the espresso is extracted. A good cup of Americano coffee is overall balanced and mellow, and does not appear watery, burnt, bitter, or sour. When we drink Americano, we experience bitterness because the espresso is over-extracted, sourness because the espresso is under-extracted, and wateriness because too much water has been added.

What does Americano coffee taste like? The taste of Americano coffee mainly comes from coffee beans

Nowadays, Americano coffee has become the standard menu of almost every coffee shop. However, the Americano coffee in some stores is sweet and delicious, while the Americano coffee in some stores is burnt and difficult to swallow. Why is there such a huge difference? There are two main factors, one is the quality of the coffee beans, and the other is the extraction level of the barista.

Today's Americano coffee is composed of espresso and water. Water is colorless and tasteless and only plays a diluting role. The taste depends on the espresso, and the flavor of espresso mainly depends on the coffee beans and extraction.

Front Street uses double espresso to make espresso. Choose a suitable one.Italian blended beansIt is also very important. Blend coffee, also known as blended coffee, is a blend of various single-origin coffee beans, thereby giving full play to the strengths of various single-origin coffee beans. Blend beans are mixed from coffee beans from different origins to create a more balanced taste. For example, if a coffee bean has a smooth taste but lacks aroma, you can add another bean with a rich aroma, and use the advantages of individual coffee beans to complement each other, complementing or strengthening the taste, thereby creating a new and richer taste.espresso

FrontStreet Coffee believes that before blending coffee beans, you must first know the flavors of different types of coffee in the world. Beans have different characteristics depending on where they are produced. Different coffee beans have different personalities due to different varieties and origins. There are subtle differences in sour, bitter, sweet, aroma, mellow and other flavors. Single-origin coffee beans often focus on showing the unique characteristics of a certain type of coffee. The advantage of cooked blending is that after roasting, it can complement each other according to the flavor performance of the coffee beans, and fine-tune the weight of the coffee beans according to the actual situation to present a stable coffee flavor.

Next, FrontStreet Coffee will take you through the details of some of our blended beans.

Under normal circumstances, the espresso produced by FrontStreet Coffee is served with ice water. Before drinking espresso, everyone takes a sip to rinse their mouth and clean their mouth to better feel the espresso. Then use the provided spoon to stir the espresso. The coffee liquid at the bottom of the espresso will be more viscous and the surface part will be thinner. Stir and mix evenly to taste the espresso better. Of course, you can also enjoy different tastes and levels without stirring. Drink it in about two to three sips. This is because the coffee tastes most perfect during this period and you consume less caffeine. You can enjoy the delicious taste while taking into account your health, but remember to drink it quickly.

But as a novice espresso coffee fan, you might as well try adding a trace amount of sugar and fresh milk in a proportion not exceeding the coffee itself, stir it slightly and drink it all in one gulp. This way of drinking, you can taste the semi-melted sugar melting in your mouth at the same time. The flavor from bitter to sweet will definitely make you fall in love with this cup of espresso. Fresh milk can neutralize the strong taste, making it the most suitable drinking method for beginner coffee fans.
