Recently, many friends have purchased ear-mounted coffee and asked for recommendations on brewing methods. Although ear-mounted coffee is convenient, it may feel strange to those who have never had it before. Front Street is here to share it.How to brew ear-hanging coffeeCome on!
Hanging ear coffeehistory
In 2001, Japan's UCC Ueshima Coffee invented the ear-hanging coffee bag, registered a patent, and then launched it on the market. In Japanese, it's called "a cup of drawn coffee." This is because its principle is to put the coffee powder in a non-woven fabric or tissue paper filter bag, with two paper plywood on the outside. When opened, it can be hung on a narrow-mouth cup. After brewing, you can directly pull it out to drink fragrant black coffee. The good thing is that it is very convenient, but the bad thing is that the coffee quickly loses its aroma after being ground into powder. This is why FrontStreet Coffee only distributes new hanging earrings made within 5 days.
The two pieces of paper placed on the rim of the cup like "ears" are the origin of the name "ear-hanging bag". Because the operation is simple and portable, the brewed coffee tastes much more pure and fragrant than instant coffee. Today, ear-hanging coffee pods account for 15% of the market share of ordinary coffee in Japan. But in China, even in 2010, there were still very few people who had heard of the name "ear-hook bag". In recent years, with the continuous promotion of coffee culture, hanging ear coffee has become widely popular, and we can find it in many offices.
What is hanging ear coffee?
Hanging coffee is ground coffee into coffee powder and packed in a sealed filter bag. The reason why it is called a hanging ear coffee filter bag is because during the brewing process, the small pieces of paper (little ears) on both sides of the filter bag need to be opened and hung on the cup for extraction. Because its main feature is that you can drink a cup of black coffee very conveniently, it has become a must-have for many offices, homes and travels.
Since the main purpose of the hanging ear is convenience, although it can be brewed using cumbersome brewing and grinding tools like Pour over(V60) coffee, this also masks the convenience advantage of the hanging ear itself. And friends who buy ear-mounted coffee all like the taste of Pour over(V60) coffee. In the office, at home or during travel, if there is a shortage of grinders, electronic scales, Pour over(V60) pots, filter cups and other equipment, hanging-ear coffee can be used to "satisfy the taste".
How to brew coffee with hanging ears?
1. First of all, the net content of coffee powder in hanging ear coffee has a fixed label (usually 10 grams), so it solves the problem of not having a grinder and an electronic scale.
2. The next step is to solve the water injection volume and water temperature. Just like Pour over(V60) coffee, the ratio is 1:15 to 1:16, so the brewed coffee liquid should reach 140 ml to 150 ml. The water temperature should be about 90℃. If you have a thermometer or a temperature-controlled kettle, you can give priority. If not, you can roughly judge the temperature. Generally, after the kettle is boiled, turn off the heat source and open the lid, wait 2-3 minutes, and the water temperature will reach about 90℃ (room temperature is 28℃).
3. When ready, preheat the mug (water cup), take it out and tear open the seal of the ear-hanging bag along the "Open" line, open the "ears" at both ends of the filter bag, hang it on the rim of the mug, and smooth out the powder layer.
4. Inject water into the first section, just make the coffee powder layer completely wet, and steam for 30 seconds.
5. After steaming, add water for the second time. Use a small flow of water in a circle to fill it up. When the powder layer drops slightly, continue to add water until it is full. Repeat until the coffee capacity in the cup reaches about 140-150 ml. Then you can remove the ear-hanging bag and enjoy.
6. If you want a more precise amount of water, you can pour 150-160 ml of water into the kettle. When brewing, after filling all the water in the kettle, you can remove the ear-hanging bag when all the coffee liquid flows into the cup. The entire brewing process takes about 1 minute to complete.
Since hanging coffee is pre-ground coffee, the flavor will be released faster than that of whole coffee beans. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the flavor of coffee, you must consume it as early as possible.

Brazilian coffee beans were introduced from French Guiana (a country in northern South America) in 1720. Brazil was a colony of Portugal at the time, and many other South American countries were colonies of Spain. Therefore, most countries in South America speak Spanish, while Brazil speaks Portuguese.
In order to introduce coffee beans from Guyana to Brazil (at that time, the export of coffee to other countries was strictly prohibited), the Portuguese officers stationed in Brazil captured the heart of the wife of the Governor of Guyana and successfully brought coffee seeds into Brazil. Since then, coffee has rapidly adapted in Brazil, spreading from the north to the southeastern state of Sao Paulo. By 1845, Brazilian coffee beans accounted for 45% of the world's total coffee beans. Brazil is currently the world's largest coffee exporter.
FrontStreet Coffee not only includes Brazil in its hanging ear series, but also in its Front Street ration bean coffee series. This shows that Brazil, as a coffee-producing country, is indispensable in the classic coffee flavor. Front Street Grain Beans are the “face” among the coffee beans in the production area, because its basic flavor of the production area is more recognizable, and it is also a low-priced and cost-effective coffee bean.

The washing method uses a machine to remove the peel and pulp first, leaving only the coffee beans wrapped in the endocarp. Moreover, there is a layer of mucous membrane on the outside of the beans at this time, and the process of washing is to clean this mucous membrane. However, the adhesion of the mucous membrane is very strong and is not easy to remove, so it must be placed in the tank for about 18-36 hours to ferment and decompose the mucous membrane.
Flavor: citrus, floral, tea, honey, high sweetness.
