Latte art almost always uses Espresso as the base. When brewing Espresso, there is a trick to make it more suitable for latte art. So, which coffee beans are more suitable for latte art? Front Street is here to give the answer today.

Recommended selection of latte art coffee beans

To make perfect latte art, we first need to extract Espresso with rich and moderate oil, so that the foam layer and milk can be better integrated, and the latte art pattern will be more stable. According to the experience of Front Street Coffee, choosing medium-dark roasted espresso beans is very beneficial for this.

Here are some recommended coffee beans that are very suitable for practicing latte art. They not only have a mellow aroma, but also have a balanced and smooth taste when paired with milk. It is absolutely the perfect match for milk. If you like nutty flavors, we recommend Front Street Fine Italian Blend Coffee Beans and Front Street Colombian Cymbidium Coffee Beans;

If you like rich fat, we recommend Front Street’s classic Italian blended coffee beans; if you like the taste of caramel spices, we recommend Front Street’s Golden Mandheling coffee beans.

In addition to choosing the right coffee, we also need to pay attention to the freshness of the beans. Overly fresh Italian coffee beans contain a large amount of carbon dioxide in the body, and the coffee oil that comes out is relatively thick, which is not conducive to latte art, and the beans need to be cultivated for 5 to 7 days; stale Italian coffee beans do not have enough carbon dioxide in the body, so they cannot produce enough oil and appear thin and cannot be integrated with the milk foam. Front Street recommends using coffee beans roasted within 7 to 45 days to make espresso. Because we know the importance of freshness to the flavor of coffee, Front Street has insisted on shipping beans roasted within 5 days for many years, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the full flavor of the coffee after receiving it.

Three major ways to learn coffee latte art

1, milk tank and milk volume

If your milk tank is 450ml, then the amount of milk you can use is about 200-250ml; if the milk tank is 500-650ml, then the amount of milk you use is about 300-350ml.

2, open the steam wand to exhaust

Bleed the air before frothing milk, mainly to remove the condensed water in the steam pipe.

3, milk tank placement angle

Place the steam wand jet nozzle toward 2-3 o'clock or 9-10 o'clock on the clock. The steam wand jet nozzle is submerged into 2/3 of the milk. It should not be too deep and should not touch the walls and bottom of the milk tank. It should not be too shallow, otherwise large bubbles will continue to form on the surface.

4, milk

The air on the surface is pulled into the milk, forming foam. At this time, you will hear a "hissing" sound of air intake (if you hear a harsh pig-killing sound or no sound after opening it, it means that it is not in the process of beating).

5, beat cotton

The vortex is used to eliminate rough foam and stratification. By adjusting the angle between the steam wand and the milk (not the contact point), the milk forms a "vortex" in the milk vat, and the foam generated during the whipping process is pulled and torn through the "vortex". The coarse foam is decomposed into fine foam, and the upper foam merges with the lower milk.

Stop the [whisking] process at the right time. When the milk temperature reaches 55-65°C, turn off the steam and pull out the steam wand.

6, After frothing the milk, tap it.

The purpose is to break the remaining rough foam on the surface of the milk foam and make the surface look smoother and more delicate. After preparing the milk froth, we officially started latte art, this time using the big white heart as a demonstration.

①  Lower the milk jug close to the cup and start pouring from the center of the liquid level.

②  While the left-hand milk cup is being straightened, the right-hand milk tank will increase the flow rate and slowly be straightened. At this time, you will see the milk foam floating on the top and slowly forming a circle and expanding slowly.

③  When the cup reaches an angle of 180°, the milk foam circle is already formed. Raise the milk jug in place while reducing the water flow (be careful not to push it forward while raising it). Use the downward impact of the water flow to push down the coffee liquid on the upper layer. At this time, you will see a heart-shaped groove appear in the original circle, and the water on both sides will gather in the middle.

④  When the heart-shaped groove appears, you can push it forward so that the heart-shaped pointed tail comes out.

⑤  A solid was born.
