Black coffee brand ranking | What are the ten best-tasting coffee beans? What is the representative coffee of Panama, Ethiopia and Jamaica?

2026.10.20 FrontStreet Coffee 249

Many friends sent private messages to Front Street, asking Front Street to introduce some representative good coffee beans. Front Street thought about it and found that the most representative coffees are the more distinctive coffee beans from major production areas. For this reason, Front Street recommended 10 coffee beans from different producing countries.

1, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee)Jamaican Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee beans

Even those who don’t know much about coffee have heard of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. Blue Mountain coffee is associated with the words rare, expensive and high quality. Blue Mountain coffee beans are among the first batch of famous beans that are world-famous for their quality. In the last century, they were known as the King of Coffee Beans. Compared with the coffee beans at that time, Blue Mountain Coffee followed a high-quality production model of intensive cultivation. Excellent Typica varieties, exquisite washing processing, and unified grade classification made Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee beans superior to coffee beans in the world at that time.

Come 2022, there are many more expensive coffee beans than Blue Mountain, but the high-quality management has remained unchanged for many years, so it has also formed a unique Blue Mountain flavor. Many businesses now sell Blue Mountain coffee with the words Blue Mountain flavor and Blue Mountain blend on the packaging. They are not real Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee beans. They use coffee beans from other origins to simulate the taste of Blue Mountain.

Of course, Blue Mountain coffee beans are not hard to find in China now. China has officially imported Blue Mountain coffee beans since 2011. The Blue Mountain No. 1 coffee beans sold by FrontStreet Coffee come from Clifton Farm. This farm was one of the first planting sites for Blue Mountain coffee certified by the Jamaica Coffee Board. Clifton Farm is located at an altitude of 1,310 meters, which is a relatively high altitude for growing Blue Mountain coffee, so the coffee beans produced here will have a better flavor.

The flavor characteristics of Front Street Blue Mountain Coffee are mellow taste, balance of sourness, sweetness and bitterness, the flavor of dark chocolate and the aroma of caramel.

2, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) Panama Emerald Estate Red Label Gesha Coffee Beans

This coffee is very well-known and is now the king of coffee. It is produced in the Emerald Manor in Panama. In 2004, Emerald Manor took Geisha coffee beans to the Panama BOP Green Bean Competition for the first time and won the championship. While Emerald Manor became famous, the name Gesha also spread throughout the world.

If you want to know which Geisha coffee tastes the most authentic, you have to look at Jade Manor. Jade Manor’s Gesha also has red label (Jade Special Selection) and green label (private collection) flavors. Most of these Geshas come from Jaramillo and Canas Verdes estates owned by Emerald Manor. The Geisha coffee selected is planted above 1650 meters. The difference between the red label and the green label is that the red label can accurately identify the detailed plots, while the green label does not emphasize the division of plots. Therefore, the owner of the farm will cup the Geisha from each plot every year and classify the red label according to the flavor performance.

The red label chosen by Front Street is the Mario plot from Jaramillo Estate. This plot is the place where Gesha won the BOP championship in 2004, so the Geisha coffee here has performed well. The batches selected by Front Street are slow sun-dried batches. Front Street believes that the sun-dried Red Label Geisha has better sweetness and fruit juice flavor.

The flavor of Front Street Jade Manor Red Label Geisha is characterized by ginger floral aroma, citrus juice, honey, and rose tea.

3, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) IndonesiaPWNGolden Mandheling coffee beans

Front Street Golden Mandheling is a top-quality coffee selected from the Indonesian green bean company Pawani. The important thing is that Golden Mandheling is a trademark, a brand that is built to be the top coffee brand in Indonesia. For this reason, Pawani also searches for and purchases high-quality coffee beans everywhere on Sumatra.

One of the reasons why the quality of Front Street Golden Mandheling is guaranteed is that three manual screenings are performed after the processing is completed to ensure that the number of defects in the green beans is reduced as much as possible and the particles are full and uniform in size.

It is precisely because of the high quality of Golden Mandheling that it is still famous, so there are many beans that emerge as Golden Mandheling. I would like to add here that not only Mandheling with large particles and few defects can be called golden Mandheling. The Golden Mandheling trademark is owned by PWN Company. The introduction of Golden Mandheling green coffee beans will be accompanied by a certificate from PWN Company (to identify authenticity), and the size of Golden Mandheling sacks is 30kg, and each batch has a corresponding number, corresponding to the certificate.

The flavor characteristics of Front Street Golden Mandheling are rich and mellow, herbal, nutty, dark chocolate, and high in cleanliness.

4, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) Ethiopian Oiran Coffee Beans

Front Street Oiran coffee beans are very famous in the country. In 2017, DW Company, a green coffee bean company in Ethiopia, sent their batch of sun-dried green coffee beans to participate in the TOH competition organized by the African Coffee Association, and this batch of coffee beans won the championship title in the TOH competition. In the same year, Chinese green bean merchant Hongshun introduced this coffee bean into China. In the China Barista Competition of the same year, Li Jianfei used this bean to compete with other Geishas and won the second place. Because Geisha coffee is also called Geisha coffee, this coffee bean was named Oiran coffee, which means the head of Geisha.

Front Street Oiran coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level. The superior planting conditions make the sugar content quite high. Only fully ripe red cherries are selected, and the sun-drying process is continuously manually turned. The strict processing process creates such good coffee. It has a very strong tropical fruit flavor, fermented aroma, mango, strawberry, passion fruit and other fruity aromas. It has a mellow taste, solid acidity and high sweetness.

5, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) Kenyan cherry tomato coffee beans

Kenya and Ethiopia are neighbors, but coffee cultivation has a short history, but the quality is very high. Kenyan coffee is mainly grown in mountains between 2,000 meters above sea level. Rainfall, volcanic soil, temperature differences, climate, etc. all create good flavor substances for the growth of coffee. The main varieties grown are SL28/SL34, which are artificially cultivated varieties and are also Kenya’s star coffee varieties. Kenya uses a double washing process, which takes 72 hours, ferments for 24 hours, and then ferments for 24 hours after washing, with three cycles of 72 hours. This gives Kenyan coffee a very lively and bright acidity, which is bright, clean and full. It has a very sweet berry-like sour aroma and a charming red wine-like aroma.

The Kenyan cherry tomato coffee on Front Street comes from the Asali processing plant, which is quite famous locally. The processed coffee has the sweet and sour taste of emerald cherry tomatoes and ebony plums. It has the flavor characteristics of Kenyan coffee.

6, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) Brazilian Queen’s Estate Yellow Bourbon

Queen's Manor is a famous specialty coffee estate in Brazil. In 2011, it won the championship in Brazil's COE competition. It also has 4 estates that have won more than 20 awards, large and small. The main plant in the manor is the yellow bourbon variety. Due to the influence of recessive genes, it appears yellow when mature. It has a mellow taste, creamy smoothness, and obvious nut and peanut flavors. This variety uses a sun-drying method, which is different from the traditional semi-sun-dried treatment in Brazil. The coffee cherries are washed and screened to select out defective beans of insufficient quality, and then the selected good-quality coffee beans are peeled and then directly sun-dried. The coffee beans are manually turned to prevent excessive fermentation.

If you are new to freshly ground Pour over(V60) coffee, this bean is perfect for practicing brewing. Front Street Roast uses a medium roast for this bean. This is a better experience than brewing some light roasted coffee beans. It is also very easy to brew with a sucrose-like sweetness, and the coffee as a whole tends to have a chocolate and buttery peanut flavor, making it easier for people who have just started to get into coffee to accept its taste.

16614869432a1539.jpg

The reason why Front Street recommends this coffee bean is that it can not only be used well in hand brewing, but also has good flavor performance even when used in moka pots, French press pots, and espresso machines. There is no doubt that it is a "universal oil" in terms of cost performance.

7, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) Colombian Flower Moonlight Coffee Beans

This coffee comes from the Huilan production area, a famous specialty coffee in Colombia, and is an anaerobic sun-dried coffee bean. First, the coffee beans are screened, and coffee cherries with good quality are also selected, and then placed in a sealed stainless steel barrel, and then carbon dioxide is injected to discharge anaerobic fermentation at low temperature. Using low temperature to extend the entire fermentation time, generally 15-20 days of anaerobic fermentation allows the coffee to develop better water activity, allowing it to develop better flavor, sweetness and balance. Then the coffee cherries are sun-dried, and the drying process must be monitored to avoid over-fermentation. Front Street Huayueye coffee beans have a very obvious strawberry jam-like flavor, as well as chocolate and honey-like sweetness, and a rich taste.

8, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee)Honduras sherry coffee beans

In the Front Street store, many friends smell the strong aroma of wine when they enter the store. It is not that Front Street has started to come to the morning C and evening A mode, but the espresso coffee beans used in Front Street are mixed with sherry coffee beans. What you smell when you enter the store is actually the sherry aroma emanating from the sherry coffee beans.

Sherry is a very popular coffee in 2019. It also uses a non-traditional coffee processing method, but uses low-temperature fermentation in wine barrels, so it has a very rich whiskey aroma. The selected high-quality coffee cherries are peeled, and then the coffee is placed in whiskey barrels for low-temperature fermentation. The fermentation time is between 15-30 days, during which the coffee beans absorb the aroma of the barrels, and then the coffee beans are removed and dried. Therefore, this coffee bean has a very rich whiskey aroma, and is sweet like vanilla cream when brewed. It tastes like wine, chocolate, and honey.

9, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) Yunnan Tiepica coffee beans

Yunnan is an important coffee producing area in China. The main varieties grown here are Typica and Katim. However, currently, more than 90% of them are planted with the Katim variety. What is the difference between these two varieties? Typica has low yield and poor insect and disease resistance, but has good flavor. Katim has high yields and is resistant to diseases and insects, but has poor flavor. Therefore, although Typica was grown in the past, later on in pursuit of yield, all Katim was put into production.

If you want to truly grow specialty coffee in Yunnan, you should start from scratch, choose the right place, choose the right varieties, and use scientific green planting management. Front Street Zhao started growing coffee in Yunnan in 2013. Yunnan is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The altitude in southern Yunnan that is suitable for growing coffee is mostly around 900-1,000 meters. It is difficult to grow high-quality coffee beans at such an altitude. By chance, Front Street found a virgin forest in Lincang near the China-Myanmar border. The altitude here is 1,200-1,300 meters, and the hard conditions are sufficient. In terms of what varieties to plant, Front Street chose Typica, because Typica is an excellent variety and has a successful planting record in Yunnan as early as 100 years ago.

1765532360639554.jpg

Growing coffee is a long process, and I am still trying to cross the river by feeling the stones. I am not completely sure that I will be able to grow good coffee, but I still go ahead and do it without hesitation. In 2020, after 7 years of cultivation, Front Street harvested the first mass production batch, a total of 300 kilograms. Front Street does not use fancy processing methods, but uses traditional sun-drying. This is also part of Front Street's verification of whether good coffee can be grown in Yunnan. After cupping, it has the flavor of sweet preserved fruits, plums, brown sugar, and chocolate. This Douqian Street is named "Front Street 2013".

10, Front Street Coffee (FrontStreet Coffee) Costa Rica Mozart Coffee Beans

Costa Rica's Mozart has the sweetness of Kyoho grapes and has always been loved by many friends. This coffee bean is processed using raisin honey, allowing the coffee cherries to ferment slowly. Front Street uses a medium-light roast to highlight the very fragrant raisin, rose, and fermented wine flavors of this bean.
