Among the thousands of different coffee bean species, it is inevitable that some beans have unique names! They don't have conventional names like most beans such as Bourbon and Typica, but they have their own numbers like secret spies.
For example, bean varieties named with English letters + numbers include: Kenya's SL28, SL34; or Costa Rica's H1, or F1. But when it comes to varieties that are all numbers, the first thing that comes to mind must be the Ethiopian number series starting with 7! So the question is ~ what does this string of numbers mean?

Once the coffee trees are infected, it will cause huge losses to the coffee farmers! As a result, coffee farmers began to use chemical drugs to prevent and combat these diseases. Although they had a certain effect, they were still spraying pesticides, treating the symptoms but not the root cause. Therefore, people still started to change their species! That is to find natural varieties with strong disease resistance.

In this way, JARC classified some beans as "1974/1975CBD-Rexistent Selections", they are: 741, 75227 in the Gera area; 74110, 74112, 74140, 74148, 74158, 74165 in the Metu-bishari area; 744, 7440, 7454, 7487 in the Washi area; and finally 754 in the Wush Wush area. The 74/75 here refers to the year of discovery, and the numbers following 74/75 are their respective numbers!

But at the beginning, let alone foreigners, even their own people at home didn’t know what the origin of this series was. The grower of the 74165 bean seed that won the championship did not know it was 74165 at first. However, when the association verified its plant when submitting it, it was discovered that it was the 74165 variety of that year.
So, what will these 74 Series coffees taste like? Among the beans roasted by Qian Street, there is also a numbered variety of beans, which is the Santavini coffee beans from the Sidamo production area, variety 74158. The 96-hour anaerobic sun-drying method gives this coffee beans an extremely fragrant flavor. The fragrance of flowers and fruits is sweet and sour,Below, Front Street will show you how to bring out its gorgeous flavor.

Considering that FrontStreet Coffee beans are lightly roasted and have a hard texture, high-temperature hot water of 92°C-93°C is needed to bring out the floral and fruity flavors in the coffee. Grinding Front Street recommends medium-fine grinding (Chinese standard No. 20 sieve pass rate 80%), because it is too coarse to extract the mellow sweet substances, and the brewed coffee will appear thin.In terms of brewing ratio, Front Street believes that 1:15 to 1:16 is acceptable. If you want a richer taste, use 1:15. If you want to feel the floral sweetness more clearly, you can use 1:16 to make the flavor more spread out.
Filter cup: V60
Water temperature: 92-93℃
Powder amount: 15g
Pink to water ratio: 1:15
Grinding degree: the size of fine sugar (sieve powder to 80% in a No. 20 sieve bowl)

Three-stage water injection: Wet the powder bed with twice the amount of coffee powder to form a drum and steam it for 30 seconds. Then inject water in a small circle from the inside to the outside until it reaches 125g. When the powder bed drops to half of the filter cup, continue to inject the same thin water flow into the third section to 225g until all the coffee liquid has been filtered and take out the filter cup, which takes about 2 minutes.
Taste the brewed 74158 coffee on Front Street Street and feel the rich layering. The entrance of the coffee is the aroma of dried mango, strawberry, and black tea. The sweetness is very prominent. As the temperature drops slightly, the orange-like juice flavor is obvious and the finish is short. Even after the coffee is completely cooled, the fruity flavor remains prominent and is almost non-bitter, making the taste bud experience very pleasant.
