what ismoka pot?
Coffee fans who like to drink Italian coffee know that Italian coffee originated in Italy. Italians are very fond of drinking coffee, and it is not an exaggeration to drink coffee as water, but if you go to a cafe to drink every cup of coffee, it will be a big expense.
It was against this background that the Italian Alfanso Bialetti invented the Moka pot in 1933. It mainly uses the heating method of the base to brew coffee. It is a distillation type. It is the most popular type of machine for brewing Italian coffee, so it is commonly used in Italian families.

moka potworking principle
The Moka pot is divided into three parts: the upper pot, the powder tank, and the lower seat. The lower pot is a sink that holds water, the powder trough is used to hold finer ground coffee powder, and the upper pot is used to hold the extracted coffee liquid. As shown in the picture below of FrontStreet Coffee:
The principle of coffee extraction in a Moka pot is also very simple. It uses the steam pressure generated in the lower pot. When the steam pressure is large enough to penetrate the coffee powder, the hot water will be pushed to the upper pot to brew rich coffee. It uses the vapor pressure of boiling hot water to extract coffee with a flavor close to espresso. It is very simple to operate.

1. Moka pot
2. Gas stove and stove or induction cooker
3. Coffee beans
4. Bean grinder
The following is the basic working principle of the Moka pot. So how to use it? FrontStreet Coffee will explain them one by one.

1. Even though there are many coffee beans to choose from in Front Street, Front Street recommends using medium-dark roasted single-origin coffee beans, because the coffee brewed by the Moka pot will be thicker, and the darker roasted coffee can better reflect the mellow feeling. Here we use Front Street’s classic Italian blended coffee beans as a demonstration.

2. Pour pure water into the lower pot of the Moka pot until the water level is about 0.5cm below the pressure relief valve.

3. The coffee grinding degree should be slightly coarser than that of Italian coffee. You can refer to the size of the gap in the powder trough filter to ensure that the coffee particles will not fall into the pot. Front Street recommends slowly pouring the coffee powder into the powder trough, tapping gently to distribute the coffee powder evenly, and smoothing the surface of the coffee by spreading the powder into a small hill-like shape. The purpose of filling the powder tank with powder is to avoid extracting bad flavor. Because when the density of the coffee powder in the powder trough is closer, it will avoid over-extraction or under-extraction of some coffee powder, resulting in uneven flavor or bitterness.

4. Put the powder trough into the lower pot, tighten the upper and lower parts of the Moka pot and place it on the electric ceramic stove to heat over high heat;

5. When the Moka pot heats up to a certain temperature, and when the Moka pot makes an obvious "whining" sound, set the electric ceramic stove to low heat and open the lid of the upper pot.
6. When the coffee liquid in the pot is halfway out, turn off the electric ceramic stove. The residual heat and pressure of the Moka pot will cause the remaining coffee liquid to "spurt" into the upper pot.

7. When all the coffee liquid is extracted into the pot, you can pour it into a cup and taste it. The coffee extracted by the moka pot is very rich and can even extract crema. You can also mix it with an appropriate amount of water or milk for a better flavor.
Let’s do some popular science here. The grease mentioned here is actually composed of countless small bubbles of carbon dioxide. As the degree of roasting increases, the mellowness of the coffee increases, and the more carbon dioxide gas needs to be emitted from the coffee beans. This is why the Moka pot is suitable for brewing coffee with medium-dark roasted coffee beans.

The coffee beans shipped by Front Street are all roasted within 5 days and can be shipped within 24 hours after placing the order to ensure that the coffee beans are still in the freshest condition after everyone receives them. Even if you want rich oil, coffee beans need to go through a bean-raising period of 4 to 7 days to stabilize the flavor. When everyone received the coffee beans from Front Street, they had just passed the bean-raising period, and the flavor was at its best.
