The autumn wind blows several times, and the fragrance of osmanthus fills the sky. It’s the golden autumn season for tasting osmanthus products. Almost every autumn, Front Street will share the coffee making with osmanthus added, because there is nothing more suitable for autumn than osmanthus (if there is, then Front Street has not mentioned it). So again, this year is no different.
The production of osmanthus coffee shared by Front Street this year will be a little different from previous years. In addition to the regular osmanthus coffee, there are also several osmanthus coffees that are relatively complicated to make but have a unique taste when drunk. I’ve tried all of them in Front Street, and they are absolutely delicious! They are all very good! Okay, without further ado, Front Street will share with you how to make some of the most "autumn-like" osmanthus coffees!
But until then...
But before that, Front Street first introduces the materials we will use later. These are items that can be easily purchased offline and online! They are: dried osmanthus, osmanthus paste/osmanthus syrup, osmanthus oolong tea, white sugar, and cream.

When it comes to coffee, it is recommended to use medium or medium-dark roasted coffee beans, not too light or too dark. Because the fragrance of osmanthus is sweet and fragrant, it will give people a warm and comfortable feeling. Because the caramelization reaction of medium and medium-dark roasted coffee beans is just right, they have calm aromas such as caramel and chocolate, but are not too strong or sour. They can be paired well with the fragrance of osmanthus to complement each other.
When paired with sweet-scented osmanthus, the first choice is the Front Street Italian series: the popular style - Front Street classic blend, the nut pie - Front Street boutique blend, the must-have for opening a store - Front Street commercial blend, and the god of cost-effectiveness - Front Street black cocoa blend. Each bean has its own characteristics and is suitable for different scenarios.

The coffee will be made using the Front Street Classic Blend coffee beans in the bean list. It is a medium-dark roasted Italian-style blended bean, which can not only express the above-mentioned advantages of Front Street, but also extract a very rich oil.

The last thing to note is that the content shared in this article is not produced by Front Street stores~
1. Osmanthus American Style/Osmanthus Oolong American Style
The first thing I want to share is the Osmanthus Americano! Osmanthus Americano is made by adding osmanthus to the regular Americano. In this way, in addition to the aroma of the coffee itself, the Americano also has a layer of elegant osmanthus fragrance, which is very good. If you don’t like sweetness or too strong flavors, then this Osmanthus American style is definitely suitable for you.

Osmanthus Americano is so easy to make! Take Front Street as an example. The parameters used by Front Street when making Osmanthus Americano are the same as regular Americano. Coffee is extracted from 20g of powder into 40ml of coffee liquid for 30 seconds, and then 180ml of 65°C hot water is added for dilution.
Then if we want to add the aroma of osmanthus to the Americano, we can choose to sprinkle some osmanthus on the powder cake before extraction to participate in the extraction, or add a small amount of osmanthus after the espresso is extracted and soak it (2g, soak for 30 seconds, and finally use filter paper to filter out the osmanthus). In this way, the Americano will have the flavor of osmanthus, which is very simple~

Then there is the "variation" of Osmanthus Americano, Osmanthus Oolong Americano. Osmanthus Oolong American is to replace the water in Osmanthus American with Osmanthus Oolong tea. Compared with the former, Osmanthus Oolong American not only has a richer osmanthus flavor, but also has the fragrance of oolong tea.
For the Osmanthus Oolong American Style, we don’t need to brew the Osmanthus, but the Osmanthus Oolong tea. However, it should be noted that the concentration of the brewed Osmanthus Oolong tea cannot be too high, otherwise the coffee we make will have an obvious bitter taste, and the tea itself is also a refreshing drink. If it is brewed too strong and then topped with coffee, friends with low caffeine resistance may keep their eyes open until dawn.

Therefore, you can pay a little attention to the concentration when making tea. Here at Naqian Street, 200ml of hot water is used to brew 5g of Osmanthus Oolong tea. The water temperature is 85°C and the tea is brewed for five minutes. Five minutes later, pour 180ml of Osmanthus Oolong tea into an American cup, and then top with 40ml of espresso liquid. A cup of Osmanthus Oolong American Cup is done!

If we want to make the coffee look more beautiful, we can sprinkle a little dried osmanthus on the surface of the coffee liquid, but be careful not to sprinkle too much, because this will affect the taste and greatly reduce the drinking experience (such as the picture below).

2. Osmanthus Latte
Followed by the osmanthus latte, the osmanthus latte is the same as the osmanthus American style. You only need to add osmanthus to the original latte to soak in the aroma. However, the object of soaking the osmanthus is not espresso, but milk.
Because if you use concentrated osmanthus to soak the osmanthus, the aroma of the osmanthus will be easily covered up by the milk. One is because the aroma from the concentrated brew is not strong enough, and the other is that the amount of milk is relatively large, after all, it needs to balance out the bitterness of the coffee. Therefore, we need to use milk to soak the osmanthus!

And because the aroma of osmanthus needs to be mixed with the milk in large amounts, the brewing time will be longer, which is also related to the lower temperature of the milk. Generally, Front Street uses 5g of osmanthus with about 210ml of milk when making sweet-scented osmanthus latte. It is sealed and refrigerated for 4 hours. Then when the time is up, it is taken out and filtered, and then the latte is made according to the steps.
The latte made in this way will have a rich osmanthus aroma, coupled with the aroma of milk chocolate and nut cream of the coffee itself, it will be fragrant and rich at the same time. It’s just that the flower itself has a certain bitterness. If you are a friend who cannot tolerate bitterness, Front Street recommends adding a little syrup to neutralize the bitterness of the coffee. About 5ml can make the coffee more drinkable.

Of course, if this method is too troublesome, we can also directly add osmanthus syrup to the coffee to make a cup of osmanthus-flavored latte. The specific parameters are: 200ml milk at 65°C, 40ml espresso liquid, and 12ml osmanthus syrup. Similarly, according to our own preferences, we can choose to sprinkle osmanthus on the surface of the latte for decoration, but we must also pay attention not to sprinkle too much osmanthus to avoid affecting the taste.
3. Caramel roasted brûlée coffee (osmanthus version)
Finally, the sweet-scented osmanthus coffee I want to share on Front Street requires a lot of steps to make, but its aroma and taste are definitely worthy of your efforts - the sweet-scented osmanthus version of caramel roasted brûlée coffee, let’s find out~

Caramel roasted brûlée coffee is a very popular method in recent times. It is based on latte, adds whipped cream and roasted caramel. When you drink it, you can not only taste the aroma of coffee, but also the soft touch and mellow taste of cream, as well as the crispy caramel! There are three completely different experiences from top to bottom, with a very rich sense of hierarchy! The osmanthus version of caramel roasted brûlée coffee has osmanthus and related ingredients added to it, which adds a layer of osmanthus aroma to the whole and makes it richer.
In addition to the materials used in the latte itself, the materials we need to prepare are: white sugar, musket, osmanthus sauce, osmanthus syrup, and cream.
Let’s beat the cream first! Before whipping, we first add a small amount of osmanthus syrup to the cream to give the cream itself the aroma of osmanthus! Since Front Street doesn't like sweetness, less syrup is added here. 8ml of osmanthus-flavored syrup is added to 100ml of cream.

Whip until the cream is semi-solid and set aside! Then we started to extract the espresso and whipped milk according to the steps of making hot latte (no need to froth the milk, just heat it), and then started to assemble the ingredients in the cup. The first thing to pour in is 8ml of osmanthus sauce. (If making ice, you need to increase the amount of osmanthus sauce, increase it to about 7ml. At the same time, reduce the proportion of milk and add ice cubes, just like an iced latte)

Then pour in milk (200ml), espresso (40ml), and whipped cream (appropriate amount). Then spread a layer of white sugar evenly on the surface.

After the white sugar is laid, we can take out the musket and bake the white sugar!

Stop when the crust is browned, and then decorate according to our preferences. A rich and delicious caramel toasted brûlée latte (osmanthus version) is ready!

Before drinking, we can taste the different parts in small sips, and then stir them evenly with a spoon to feel the combined taste. It’s really good. I recommend giving it a try~~
