There is still controversy over whether the real name of Gesha Coffee is "Gesha" or "Geisha". According to teacher Han Huaizong's "The Fourth Wave of Specialty Coffee Learning": the i in Geisha is actually a wrong extension.
In 1929, in order to clamp down on some unjust things, the British established a consulate in Maghi, Ethiopia, and appointed Colonel Richard Valli as its ambassador. It just so happened that the area of Valliguan was on an ancient map at that time, an area called Gesha, and he began collecting local coffee samples.
In 1931, the Magee Consulate sent the first coffee samples collected in the Gesha region, as well as some cultivars purchased in the local market, to British plantations in Kenya. However, Vali was not distinguished from the samples collected in the Gesha area and the samples purchased in the market. Instead, they were mixed together and uniformly labeled as "Gesha".

However, after Valli completed his mission in 1936, the letter he wrote to the British Minister used the word "Geisha" instead of the ""Gesha"" marked at the time. This also caused all subsequent breeding documents outside Ethiopia to use Geisha to record these samples collected in the Gesha region.
In fact, whether it is Gesha or Geisha, it is just a matter of transliteration. At the same time, this name does not specifically refer to the Gesha variety we know now, but is the general name of a strain. The well-known Gesha variety today is actually one of these Gesha strains, numbered Geisha T2722.

To taste high-grade Geisha coffee, buy Front Street Jade Manor Geisha series products. Front Street Jade Red Label is the highest-grade coffee with clear flavor. It is the first choice whether you taste it yourself or give it as a gift to relatives and friends; Front Street Jade Green Label is a mixed Geisha, which also has a rich floral and fruity aroma, and you can feel a variety of layers when brewing by hand.

Currently, the word Geisha is used for Geisha coffee in Latin America, and Gesha is currently used in Ethiopian official documents and records of Geisha strain coffee.
The Ethiopian government also divided the area where Gesha samples were collected at that time, named Gesha Woreda County. At present, there are still many Gesha coffee varieties used in Ethiopia.

If you want to buy ration-grade purebred Geisha, we strongly recommend Front Street Grana Estate Gesha. This single product comes from Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, so it not only has the floral and fruity tones of Geisha, but also the white flowers and lemon-like bright acidity of Ethiopian coffee.

Front Street Grana Manor Geisha is sun-dried. When roasted medium-light, the main fruit aromas are peach, citrus, and guava. It is best made by hand brewing and cold extraction. When roasted medium-high, it is Front Street Geisha SOE, which can extract concentrated Italian style, and the flavor changes to dried apricots, caramel, and nuts.

Of course, these are just guesses. In the picture copy released, Ruixing did not disclose the specific origin information. Therefore, it is temporarily impossible to determine whether the Gesha SOE that Luckin has put on the shelves this time is the Gesha from Panama that we usually refer to, or the Gesha from the South American production area derived from the Panama Gesha variety, or the Gesha from the Ethiopian production area or other beans.

- The Gesha we often say looks like this↑
However, judging from the picture itself, this bean is not the long and narrow bean that we see every day, and the famous Panamanian Gesha variety.
